The Opportunity
MLR is hiring a Consultant, Executive Search to support and lead key components of search mandates, from research and market mapping through direct candidate outreach, screening, and the preparation of client-ready deliverables.
This role suits someone who is both highly organized and highly relational, comfortable approaching senior leaders, confident representing MLR in the market, and committed to a rigorous, structured search process. We are also looking for someone who enjoys improving how work gets done. Once you understand our approach, you will be encouraged to share observations and suggest practical process improvements that strengthen quality, efficiency, and candidate experience.
What You’ll Do
Candidate Research, Market Mapping and Outreach
- Research where the right people are, and build a list of strong potential candidates for senior leadership and board roles, including notes on what they do and where they work
- Proactively source and approach candidates through discreet, high-quality outreach by email, phone, and LinkedIn
- Represent MLR professionally in the market and build relationships with prospective candidates
- Track outreach activity, follow-ups, and pipeline progress with strong attention to detail
Candidate Screening and Search Support
- Conduct candidate screening conversations and intake information gathering
- Coordinate interview scheduling and candidate communications to support an excellent candidate experience
- Conduct reference checking and finalist due diligence workflows as required
Client Deliverables and Documentation
- Contribute to search profiles, job ads, candidate self-assessments, interview guides, progress reports, and references
- Write and edit documents to a polished, client-ready standard consistent with MLR’s brand voice
- Maintain accurate records in the Invenias (our applicant tracking system) and ensure documentation is complete and consistent
Continuous Improvement and Quality
- Learn MLR’s end-to-end search process and quality standards
- Identify friction points and opportunities to improve workflow, templates, tracking, and candidate and client experience
- Share observations and propose practical improvements, and support implementation of agreed enhancements
What We’re Looking For
Required
- Undergraduate degree or relevant diploma
- Interested in executive search, recruitment, research, consulting, or senior stakeholder engagement
- Comfort with direct outreach to senior leaders and relationship building by phone, email, and LinkedIn
- Excellent writing and editing skills with a clear, structured, professional tone
- Strong project coordination skills and exceptional attention to detail
- High discretion and sound judgment with sensitive information
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365
An Asset
- LinkedIn Recruiter experience and ATS experience
- Familiarity with structured interviews, competency-based assessment, and reference practices
- Strong document formatting skills in Word and PowerPoint
Working Model

- Location: Edmonton (primarily in-office with some flexibility)
