The Canadian Chiropractic Examining Board (CCEB) is a catalyst for excellence in chiropractic care across Canada. CCEB exams are held multiple times a year, blending rigorous written assessments with objective structured clinical examinations (OSCE). With an annual budget of 2 to 2.5 million CAD, the organization is committed to responsible stewardship and impactful outcomes.

Mandate
As the Chief Executive Officer reporting to the volunteer Board of Directors, you will be the operational heartbeat of the CCEB. Your leadership will guide the Board in establishing strategic objectives while ensuring the organization aligns with its mission, bylaws, policies, procedures, and strategic plan.
Key Accountabilities
- Strategic Leadership
- Inspire the development and review of strategic plans, positioning the CCEB exam as the gold standard for regulatory bodies across Canada.
- Cultivate and enhance the positive reputation of the CCEB.
- Champion the integration of innovative technology into CCEB operations.
- Engage members to identify and respond to emerging needs in the chiropractic community.
- Safeguard the security, validity, and defensibility of CCEB examinations.
- Collaborate with contracted psychometricians to ensure examination materials remain relevant and impactful.
- Stay ahead of compliance with evolving legislation.
- Foster team buy-in for all CCEB initiatives.
- Financial and Operational Leadership
- Provide forward-thinking financial and operational leadership, guiding the organization through annual budgets and operational plans.
- Continuously review and refine the long-term financial strategy.
- Develop and implement a robust risk management model.
- Oversee the annual financial audit with transparency and integrity.
- Manage payroll and all associated HR and finance responsibilities.
- Create and execute a forward-thinking technology strategy.
- People Leadership
- Build and nurture strong relationships with CCEB staff, the Board, members, external contractors, and all stakeholders to drive organizational efficiency.
- Lead the recruitment and onboarding process for staff and volunteers, ensuring a diverse and talented team.
- Support the Board in recruitment and evaluation efforts.
- Ensure a governance structure that is both effective and efficient.
- Provide inspirational leadership to the CCEB team, motivating them to achieve their best.
- Foster a culture of psychological safety and respect, enabling all team members to thrive.
- Champion change-management initiatives with empathy and clarity.
- Administrative Leadership
- Oversee the management of facilities and equipment to support our mission.
- Develop and enhance operational processes, policies, and procedures that drive excellence.
- Address appeals and accommodation requests with compassion and fairness, supporting members through challenges.
- Craft all internal and external communications, including annual reports, to reflect CCEB values and mission.
- Prepare all materials for the Annual General Meeting with a high attention to detail.
First-Year Deliverables / Measures of Success
Success in the first year will be determined by the candidate’s ability to:
- Solidify the CCEB’s position as the sole provider of entry-to-practice chiropractic exams in Canada;
- Deliver exams on time and within budget, ensuring a seamless experience for candidates.
- Strengthen relationships with all provinces and their chiropractic regulatory bodies.
- Foster strong connections with the Board, staff, and volunteers, creating a united and motivated team.
- Maintain a corporate culture defined by psychological safety and respect.
- Advance the strategic plan’s existing deliverables with commitment and clarity.
- Develop a deep understanding of the chiropractic profession and landscape in Canada.
- Adeptly facilitate the rollout of a new Member Management System.
- Strategize for culturally diverse item writing, ensuring inclusivity in assessments.
- Uphold a steadfast commitment to protecting public safety at every turn.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will have the following:
Education:
- A variety of educational backgrounds may be relevant to the position.
- Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation is welcomed.
Experience:
- Proven leadership experience at the VP level or higher.
- Strong governance expertise and/or experience interacting with a board.
- A history of leading and inspiring a seasoned team with a trusting and empowering approach.
- Legal experience and understanding are welcomed.
Competencies and Attributes:
- Fluency and comfort working in both French and English.
- Exceptional relationship-building skills.
- An interest in technology and a vision for how technology will impact the future of the organization.
